Purpose and Goals

With the sheer numbers of students being served, high school guidance counselors and other staff are often limited to the amount of individual attention they can provide to students.

PREP is a program designed to provide career planning services for income-eligible Cape May County high school senior aged 14-21 who are struggling with the challenges of high school and post-high school education and career planning.

PREP aims to serve a wide range of students, from those who are college bound but with barriers to those with undefined future employment plans.

The program provides for strong case management and highly individualized services and support through a collaborative effort with our community partners.

Through PREP, we aim to help at risk youth complete high school, make informed career choices, and develop job skills to take the steps toward rewarding, enjoyable careers.

Social and Personal Needs Assessment

Identifying on an individual basis the support services needed to address barriers to educational and vocational progress toward future employment.

Vocational Assessment

Identifying interests and aptitudes through a series of assessment tools to establish a realistic vocational goal and plan to meet that goal.

Academic Assessment

Comparing established academic performance levels (provided by the referring school) to those required for actual jobs and post-secondary educational opportunities.
